Let’s have a mass debate

There’s some threads where you feel that everything that could ever be usefully said has already been said. That point was reached several pages past the top of the image below:

Internet drama: Just say no.

  1. Does anyone ever ask WOMEN why there are so few in “their” LUG?

I nearly went to a LUG meet, once. Then I realised that I knew a couple of people on the list and I really didn’t want to talk to them ever again; life’s too short. And judgementally, I reckoned the rest might be like these guys too. Maybe I missed a treat, who knows?

IME women are more likely to go to lectures and personal development stuff, like UKUUG talks, than geek bloke pub meets.

But I guess that people just sit there going “why are there very few women here?” and never actually ask any!

  2. It’s not surprising there are so few women at LUGs: Answer: The men – many greasy, you know, the kind – are all after them from the off! Talk about “social computing”!

  3. I frequent http://www.dslreports.com/ and I find this all the time. When network neutrality first started I debated the hell out of it. A few weeks later I had said everything i felt was worthy saying and then some and others had said their spiel. To this day people keep debating tirelessly, repeating the same points that have been made over and over again. Once the initial head banging has taken place I see no point in going on about that topic anymore.
